Germany’s most famous dancehall bands released some tragic news this morning with an announcement that Seeed frontman Demba Nabé passed away at the age of 46 from a currently undisclosed cause.
Nabé, who has also performed under the alias Boundzound or “Ear”, made a name for himself with the Berlin cult band Seeed, alongside fellow frontmen Peter Fox and Dellé.
The news of Nabé’s death came from the band’s lawyer, Christian Schertz, who told the Tagesspiegel newspaper “Demba’s death has hit the band deeply. The band needs time and rest to grieve, so we are currently asking you to refrain from further inquiries.”
On Seeed’s official Facebook page, Nabé’s bandmates wrote: “We are mourning our friend and singer Demba Nabé.”
While the eleven-member band went somewhat quiet after releasing their fourth and most successful album Seeed in 2012, group member Peter Fox announced in March that the band was in the studio working on their next album.
Seeed also just announced that they would be going back on tour in Fall 2019, causing the servers of their ticketing platform to crash multiple times due to the high demand. Many of the concerts sold out in just minutes.
If you’re unfamiliar with Seeed’s music, we’ve published an Essentials playlist with some the band’s top hits. While not all of the group’s hits are included due to some albums not being made available to stream in the U.S., these 15 songs will still give you a great taste of Seeed’s most defining music to date.
