It usually takes a lot for me to step inside a McDonald’s, but the next time I find myself in Germany, I may have to swallow my pride and try out their latest menu addition they call Camembert Donuts.
For 3.99 euros ($5), McDonald’s is serving up seven mini donuts with a crispy deep-fried exterior and a creamy camembert cheese interior. Sure it may be a more glorified mozzarella stick, but honestly is there anything not delicious about that statement?
I’m no expert on the French-style camembert cheese, but McDonald’s believes this concoction tastes great with a cranberry dipping sauce, and according to one YouTube review, the sauce takes this treat to the “Oh my god” level.
Much like many of McDonald’s other crazy menu items that would actually peak my interest in stepping through the Golden Arches, these Camembert Donuts will likely stay away from the US. Why? Perhaps the fast food chain knows us American’s are happy with a less exciting menu.
