Schwarzkopf Professional is already considered a leader in beauty care, but the German-based company owned by Henkel is ready to defend their position for years to come, using CES to debut the SalonLab ecosystem that will propel hair salons into the digital age.
Awarded the 2018 CES Innovation Award, SalonLab infuses “more than 120 years of hair expertise, research and consumer insights” into three key products that work hand-in-hand to analyze, consult and customize the perfect hair care solutions on an individual level.
SalonLab Analyzer is a hand-held device that the stylist can run through the customer’s hair to measure hair quality, moisture level and a true color read that will take the guesswork out of finding the perfect hair coloring formula needed to produce the desired result.
The SalonLab Consultant is an app that places all the key data from the Analyzer and “supports the hairdresser throughout the analysis, displaying the client’s individual hair diagnostic results and enabling a personal color consultation with state-of-the-art augmented reality technology.” In other words, customers can use the front-facing camera to get a realtime display of hair color options on their own head to try out different looks before it’s too late.
Schwarzkopf’s third piece of the SalonLab ecosystem is the Customizer that can provide a custom formulated bottle of shampoo on-site to best match a customers hair. This on demand dispenser can produce more than 100 different recipes, mixing different combinations of fragrances and ingredients to maintain perfect hair.
This hair salon of the future will be rolling out to select Schwarzkopf Professional hair salons in the United States later this year.
