After placing dead last in the 2015 and 2016 Eurovision Song Contests, Germany is looking for a way to redeem itself, and broadcaster ARD thinks they have the answer with a new televised contest event.
“Unser Song 2017“, which will air live on February 9, will have five singers face off with songs written by international songwriters with the hope of finding the song that will break Germany’s losing streak.
Singers that want a shot at fame are being asked to send in videos as the best 30 will be asked to audition to become one of the lucky five.
While the winner will be solely selected by the audience, a jury consisting of Florian Silbereisen, Tim Bendzko and Germany’s last Eurovision winner, Lena, will be providing comments on each performance.
According to EurovisionWorld, international fans will be allowed to weigh in with their votes, which may help gain some early loyalty when it comes time to vote in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv.
