There’s an Earth, Wind & Fire joke waiting to be made after a wind turbine in Germany became engulfed in flames and firefighters had to stand by helpless with equipment that would not reach the fire.
The 100-meter (328-foot) blaze in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is believed to have been caused by lightning, was beyond the reach of the firefighter’s ladders when they got to the scene early Sunday.
For a while the wind turbine of fire made for some nice footage as it spun its way to the ground. It is an expensive show though as the damage is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands range. Time to invest in some taller ladders!
