Very few German artists can say they had a hit song in the US, and an even smaller number can claim a top spot on the Billboard music charts, but Nena did just that with her 1983 hit song “99 Luftballons”, and now 33 years later she is setting foot on US soil to perform for her first ever American tour.
Nena’s 99 Luftballons Over America tour will see “Germany’s Queen of Rock” play in three US cities this fall: San Francisco, LA and New York City.
“now’s the right time… It’s perfect timing”
As for why she has waited so long to perform for her American fans, Nena said “now’s the right time… It’s perfect timing. And it’s a total, like, “Wow!” for me. I’m really happy about it. All of it’s a great, big adventure – a really cool step into the unknown. I love not knowing exactly what awaits me. I’m really excited about what I’m going to experience with you all.”
Despite only really having one hit song in the US, Nena is still going strong in Germany with sixteen studio albums that have produced plenty of hit songs to perform for her American fans.
If you’re a fan, you probably don’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see her perform here in America. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased using the links below:
