Germany’s largest car rental company, Sixt, is trying to make a serious push into the United States, and to do so, the company has released a very German ad along with a social media contest that asks Americans to “Show their German Side“.
Starting this week, and running through July 6, Sixt is encouraging Americans to show their “German side” by posting German-inspired photo or video to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for a chance to win a luxury rental car for a week. The most authentic, creative and/or funny post that fits that week’s theme will be chosen for the award.
Entrants must use the hashtag #GutenTagAmericaContest and tag Sixt rent a car or @SixtUSA in the post.
To go along with the contest, there is a new commercial that Sixt is hoping will set the rental company apart from the competition by really driving home their German roots. The ad isn’t short of humorous German stereotypes and is accompanied by a German polka band performing the National Anthem.
During the campaign, Sixt is also offering a 20% discount on rentals in the U.S.
