A linguistics graduate student at California State University, Fullerton is currently designing a study for his M.A. thesis that examines the speech of English-German bilinguals living in California (particularly Southern California).

Tim Jewell is “looking for California Germans who speak both English and German fluently and find themselves switching back and forth between the languages frequently, feeling that the two languages “interfere” with each other”.

Jewell is interested in recording the speech of German-Americans who were born in California (or the United States in general) and have maintained their fluency in German throughout their lives. Any age group would be of interest to him but his research is centered around German-Americans between the ages of 18 and 30.

If you would like to participate in this study please contact Tim Jewell as soon as possible at:  [email protected]
