There seems to be a never-ending cycle of new products catering to coffee lovers today, and now a German entrepreuner is adding his latest invention to the list with his in-home coffee maker that will produce a quick fresh brew from raw coffee beans.
Hans Stier left his job as a lawyer in 2011 to make the Bonaverde, which he claims will make “the freshest coffee you’ll ever taste”. And enough people showed in interest in his coffee maker as the Bonaverde already has 5,000 pre-orders and received close to $2.5 million through crowd-funding campaigns.
The fresh beans are roasted in the machine at the perfect temperature and length, and Stier claims the process won’t take much longer than the standard filter brewed coffee makers found in most home kitchens.
When Bonaverde goes on sale in the second half of 2015, it will retail for around $650, and like most specialty coffee machines, it will only work with specially selected coffee partners. The reason, Stier explains, is that the machine will need to scan a microchip on the coffee bag to determine the best roasting process.
Bonaverde will initially only be sold on the company’s own online store, but both Target and Amazon have shown interest in carrying the machine in the U.S. market.
