For 53 years, the town of New Braunfels, TX has been celebrating one of the icons on Germany… sausage. It began as the “Sausage Festival,” then “Wurst Week,” and now it has become a 10-day “Wurstfest” from November 7-16.
Wurstfest has become one of the largest German cultural celebrations in America, and with 10 days of eating, drinking, and dancing, it’s no surprise. Due to the popularity of the event, Wurstfest has expanded its grounds to accommodate even more sausage-lovers this year.
Over 30 craft beers will be featured in the new Steitzenplatz beer garden, along with more common German and domestic brews. All are sure to pair well with all the “sausage than one can shake a stick at – on a stick, in a taco, with kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes), or apple sauce or mustard.”
Alex Meixner, performing oompah music “on steroids” will be joined at the fest by 18-time Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Sturr and Die Bayriche 7 from Germany. There will also be plenty of polka and German dancing opportunities throughout the 10 days.
Wurstefst runs from November 7-16 at 120 Landa St in New Braunfels, Texas.
