Germany’s famous Hofbräuhaus is once again expanding in the United States with the latest restaurant and beer garden planned to open in downtown Buffalo, NY by the summer of 2015.
The exact location of the Hofbräuhaus is still under negotiation, but the 14,000-square-foot restaurant is expected to be within walking distance of Canalside” according to Kevin Townsell, who owns the local franchise rights to the restaurant.
Townsell, who has made more of a name for himself with his Irish pubs and festivals, has spent the last two years pushing to open a German beer garden, and with the Hofbräuhaus he will be getting just that.
Unlike the typical U.S.-based Hofbräuhaus’, the Buffalo location will not have an on-site brewery due to size restrictions of the proposed location. Instead, the Buffalo Hofbräuhaus will serve imported beer from Hofbräu in Germany.
Still, the location will be able to seat 600 people in the indoor beer hall with an additional 300-seat capacity in the outdoor beer garden during the warmer months.
