The German-American Steuben Parade Committee of NYC crowned this year’s Miss German-America, Kristna Kren, to a packed house at the Bierhaus NYC in Manhattan, on Sunday afternoon, May 19. A panel of six judges interviewed each of the five candidates and this year more than 100 people turned out to cast their vote for the winner, including the former German Ice Figure Skating World Champion, and 2012 Steuben Parade Grand Marshal, Norbert Schramm.
Kristina Kren, 24, is no stranger to the Miss German-America scene. Ten years ago Kren was the Junior Princess of the Steuben Parade, but now she has moved her way up to gain the prestigious title as Queen of the 2013 Steuben Parade in New York and will have her own court, including her own Junior Princess, riding with her on the “Queen’s Float”.
Also during the May 19 event, Stefani Kraker and Kristen Newcomer were crowned as princesses, Anna Geiger and Claire Popolizio received the title of Junior Princess, and William Geiger was selected to become the Junior General vonSteuben.
Last year’s Miss German-America and Stueben Parade Queen, Kirsten Mueller, recalled her time over the last 12 months by stating that “promoting the German American culture, language and friendship is extremely important to me. As Miss German America, it has been my honor to represent such a vibrant and passionate group, as are the German Americans.”
You can get your chance to see Kristna Kren and her court at this years German-American Steuben Parade in New York on September 21, 2013, and at various German events around the New York area throughout the next year.
