Since its launch in 2011, the popular German mobile flirting app LOVOO has quickly risen to the top of the dating app download charts in Germany and has more than 2 million registered users. The free app for Android and iOS uses your phone’s location data to find nearby matches for you to flirt with by sending virtual kisses and gifts along with interactive games. Now that LOVOO has dominated the mobile dating scene in Germany, the company has its sights on the much larger American market.
According to a recent article published by Venture Village, the LOVOO founders were at this years SXSW in Austin to discuss their rollout plans for the US. With so many online dating services in the US though, it may not be as easy for LOVOO to rise to the top like it did in its home country. The US market already has more than a few successful flirting apps with similar features, and right now, while it appears that LOVOO is already setup to work in the US, the rollout seems to be in the very early stages.
The app’s website is only partly translated into English, and based on the reviews in the Apple App Store, there are times that the app itself isn’t fully translated. Plus for an app that is claiming to be free for all of the features, there are clearly some in-app purchases that are needed to unlock the full potential of the app according to the reviews. There is still a lot that needs to be done before LOVOO is seen as a competitive app in American app stores.
