On Wednesday it was announced that T-Mobile USA CEO Philipp Humm was leaving the company immediately after only 2 years, and while the initial excuse was that he wanted to spend more time with his family back in Europe, information leaked that he was leaving to join a Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile USA’s parent company) competitor. Reuters broke the news shortly after that the company he was moving to would be to one of the leading European mobile providers, Vodafone. Starting October 1, Humm will become the companies chief executive of northern and central Europe.
Unlike when he joined T-Mobile, Vodafone has been doing pretty well over the last few years and with Humm’s arrival will be splitting up its European division into a northern/central region and southern Europe region. Philipp Humm will be responsible for leading some key markets such as Germany, Britain, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
