It’s never too late to celebrate the arrival of spring, and although it’s the end of May, Chicago is getting ready to celebrate Maifest for four straight days starting today! Located in the heart of Chicago’s German community, Lincoln Square, Maifest welcomes crowds in the thousands that just want to have a good time soaking in the German culture, music, food, and drink. Chicago’s May Fest Committee has been organizing this Chicago favorite for 13 years with the help of the Rheinischer Verein Chicago, DANK Haus, and the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce, and was voted “Best Festival” by Chicagoans in 2009 according to RedEye.
If you are anywhere close to Chicago this weekend, we highly recommend making the trip to Maifest. There will be live music every night between 2 different tents, and the selection of authentic German food is plentiful. Several of us from German Pulse will be making it out on Saturday to help in the food tent from 3-7pm and in the beer tent from 7-11. Stop by and say hello.
The full schedule of events and directions can be found in the source link. Maifest kicks off tonight (May 31) at 5pm and runs through Sunday night (June 3). You don’t want to miss it!
