In a recently published study by the German version of “Men’s Health” magazine, Cologne has more reported stalkings than any other city in Germany. There are 142.7 reported stalkings per 100,000 people! Frankfurt am Main may still hold the title of the highest crime rate, but only sits at 38th place on the stalker list. Nuremberg, which has a small town atmosphere, showed the lowest numbers with a mere 15.7 reports per 100,000 people.
So what is the cause of these numbers? According to an expert on stalking (I’m guessing it’s an expert on studying the reports), Hans-Georg Voß, divorce rate and income levels have the largest influence. Towns with a higher divorce rate will greatly impact how much stalking is going on.
