The much-anticipated second season of Netflix’s Stranger Things is set to debut on October 27, and while most fans will have finished the season by the end of the weekend, the streaming service has a tease in store for their upcoming German thriller series Dark — a series already being called the Stranger Things of Germany — with a new trailer and release date of December 1.

With the new trailer, much of the plot remains a mystery, but what we do know is that Dark centers around four families who are on a frantic hunt to solve the mystery two missing child, and what they unearth are some of their small town’s darkest sins and secrets.

Dark‘s comparison to Stranger Things is easy to make, but don’t mistake it as a copycat series. The brief looks at the series shows that Dark should be able to stand on its own, and it is an exciting move to also compete with Amazon’s own entrance into the Original German series market with their release of You Are Wanted earlier this year.
