Meet the Adidas Futurecraft Robot Shoe

By Stephen Fuchs on Email @StephenWFuchs

After making its plans known in late-2015 that it would build a robotic manufacturing plant, dubbed the Speedfactory, Adidas has finally unveiled the first new shoe to get the robot treatment, along with a name that suits it well — the Futurecraft M.F.G.

In terms of actual details on the process, or even the shoe, Adidas isn’t saying much outside of a short video posted to YouTube. Its enough to get an idea, but it will be interesting to see how the company intends to scale the process to fit demand.

Adidas’ website is just as scarce on the details, with no ship date or pricing. Expect pricing to be quite high though as it appears that each shoe will be custom fitted, meaning online ordering is out of the question. For professional runners, which this shoe seems to be intended for, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
