New Bavarian Police Outfit Channels Inner Vader

Bavarian Police Vader

The Bavarian Police have introduced their latest police uniforms that are supposed to offer better protection against attacks, but shortly after publishing photos, the internet was quick to point out its Darth Vader inspiration, timed nicely with the upcoming The Force Awakens addition to the Star Wars saga.

Others rushed to social media to point out the uniforms resemblance to Lord Dark Helmet, which is the villainous character spoofing Lord Vader in Mel Brooks’ classic comedy Spaceballs.

I’d agree with the Spaceballs resemblance, but both can be seen quite clearly.

Despite the somewhat amusing design choice, the uniform does appear to serve its purpose to offer greatly improved protection. The overcoat, fitted with ceramic plates, and sloped titanium helmet, will act to deflect most bullets away from the officer.

So what are your thoughts? Do you think the uniform is more Spaceballs or more Star Wars?
