The German-American Hall of Fame (GAMHOF), which highlights the contributions Americans with German ancestry have made to the United States, has announced that they will be handing out a total of $3500 in scholarships for high school and college students with their 2014 Student Scholarship Essay Contest.

In 750 words or less, students are asked to write an essay about the irreplaceable impact and/or contributions of German immigrants and German-Americans on one of the 50 U.S. States. The essay needs to be written in English and chronologically accurate, but does not have to focus on the State that the applicant lives in.

First, Second and Third place winners will be separately selected from the high school and college categories. The two First prize winners will each take home $1,000, with Runners-up winning $500 each, and Third place winners earning $250 prizes.

The deadline for all applicants is 11:59PM Eastern Daylight time, July 31, 2014, and must be submitted via email. More information can be found on the GAMHOF website, including the official application form.
