On September 13, the Hofbräuhaus Chicago will be kicking off their first ever Oktoberfest, and you have 48 opportunities to check it out it since it runs until October 31!

Since its opening earlier this year, the Chicago Hofbräuhaus located at the entertainment-focused MB Financial Park in Rosemont, has become the goto place to enjoy some of the best of Germany in the Chicagoland area.  Now with Oktoberfest season approaching, they are taking things up a notch, beginning with a special Oktoberfestbier made at their on site brewery and food specials that will be changing daily.  The Oktoberfest staple of fresh roasted almonds and pecans will be a limited time item that you won’t want to miss.

New food and beer isn’t the only thing the Hofbräuhaus has in store for the 48-day celebration though.  Every Friday evening a traditional keg tapping ceremony will take place with a Chicago area celebrity guests each time.  The first keg tapping will be done by 101.9 FM’s Eric & Kathy and the Chicago Bear’s Patrick Mannelly.  Other celebrity guests will include Windy City Live’s Ryan Chiaverini, the Rat Pack Cast, and Mancow.

Also taking place every Friday and Saturday is the popular stein-holding competition, the Masskrugstemmen, where contestants compete to see who can hold out a filled one liter stein parallel to the floor using only one arm for the longest.  It may sound easy, but it takes a great deal of strength, stamina and pure determination to pull it off.

If anyone knows how to pull off an Oktoberfest celebration, you can bet the Hofbräuhaus knows how to do it.  Bring out a crowd or join one that’s already there, but you’ll probably want to make a reservation ahead of time if you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday night.  Also, make sure you visit the Hofbräuhaus Chicago website and social media pages to get the latest updates on events planned for their Oktoberfest celebration.
