Giant Spiders Attack in German Art Student’s Latest Project

How would you react if you saw car sized spiders crawling around the inside of a building late at night?  What might sound like a horrible nightmare to most people happened to be the focus of an art project by Friedrich von Schoor at Germany’s HBK Saar art college earlier this year.  The real spiders were not actually the size of an average car, but due to some crafty projection tricks, people walking by were in for a shocking sight.

Friedrich von Schoor created a tank that had the same proportions of the building being used for his art display and placed an ordinary spider inside to be filmed.  A projector was then placed inside the glass-fronted building, which then gave the illusion of a monster-sized spider attack waiting to break free onto the streets below.
