Hofbräuhaus Coming to Chicago

By Stephen Fuchs on Email @StephenWFuchs

It’s been a while in the making, but this Friday, Nov. 18, the world-famous Hofbräuhaus will break ground on its newest addition in the Chicagoland city of Rosemont.  Once completed, the Rosemont Hofbräuhaus will be the first Hofbräu franchise in the Mid-West.

Josef Matuschka, chairman of Windy City Group which holds the franchise rights for the Chicago area, has been actively working to bring the Hofbräuhaus to the Chicago area for many years and has stated that…

I always knew that a Hofbräuhaus belongs in Chicago and I am very glad that we will be able to make it happen in Rosemont.

Matuschka’s son Michael, who is the President of Windy City Group, has been heavily involved with the project as well and has played a crucial role in working out the details to make the project a reality.  Michael explains…

This is a major project with the goal to make the people of Chicago feel like being in Munich at the Hofbräuhaus when it opens next summer.

The Hofbräuhaus Chicago at Rosemont will be built to resemble the original Hofbräuhaus am Platzl in Munich, Germany, which has become a world-famous attraction for anyone visiting Munich.  If they can match the atmosphere of the original, the Hofbräuhaus may have a hit in the Chicagoland area.  Opening date is estimated to be June or July 2012.
