Robot That Flies Like a Bird

A fine example of German engineering… SmartBird is a robotic bird that flies the same way a real bird does.  Markus Fischer led his team at the German technology company, Festo, to crack the code that many researchers have failed to do in the past.  The robotic bird not only flaps its wings up and down but they also twist like those of real birds.

Check out the demonstration in the video below from a recent TED conference.  It is truly amazing when you see it in action…
